Monmouth County Correctional Institution Overview
Monmouth County Correctional Institution, or MCCI, is operated by the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Corrections Division. It is the primary county jail facility for Monmouth County and is located in Freehold. The sheriff describes MCCI as a large direct-supervision county correctional institution with objective classification and pod-style floor plans. Adults committed by the courts may be held there while awaiting first appearance, detention review, trial, county sentence service, transfer, or resolution of another agency hold.
MCCI is not a New Jersey state prison, BOP institution, or confirmed active public ICE detention facility. Monmouth residents sentenced to state prison move into NJDOC custody and should be searched through the NJDOC offender search. Federal sentenced inmates use BOP. Immigration detainees use ICE ODLS. The distinction prevents common lookup errors when a person leaves the Monmouth County jail population.
MCCI Capacity and Staffing
The sheriff's Corrections and Adult Corrections pages, plus the warden biography, give MCCI an occupancy rating of 1,328 inmates. Warden Victor Iannello's bio states that he manages day-to-day operations and leads 270 sworn correctional police personnel plus 31 civilian personnel. Official pages also list ACA and NCCHC accreditation, weekly law-library access, recreation, medical care, meals, and educational, religious, and social programs.
The MCCI Adult Corrections page documents the facility's rating and operating model.
The source ties MCCI's inmate lookup page to the named jail facility rather than a generic county detention reference.
Lookup MCCI Inmate Records
MCCI inmates are searched through the sheriff's Inmate Search page. Confirmed public search inputs are First Name, Last Name, and Charge Agency. The sheriff's FAQ says the search can provide custody status, charges, bail, court date, and arresting agency. If the online search fails, call MCCI administration or use the sheriff's OPRA process for records not available online.
- Open the MCSO inmate search page.
- Search by last name, then add first name if needed.
- Use Charge Agency only when the agency is known.
- Confirm any result by custody status, charges, court date, bail, and arresting agency.
- Use NJDOC, BOP, or ICE only when the person is outside current MCCI custody.
| Lookup Channel | Use It For | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| MCCI roster | Current county jail custody | Released or transferred people may not appear. |
| 732-431-7860 | Jail confirmation when the web roster fails | Staff may not release every record by phone. |
| MCSO OPRA | Booking or jail records not online | Exemptions and redactions may apply. |
| NJDOC search | State-prison custody after sentence | Biweekly updates and removal rule apply. |
MCCI Address and Contact
The Freehold jail address is the correct destination for jail custody, visitation, after-hours bail, and facility questions. Do not confuse it with the Sheriff's Office Public Safety Center at 2500 Kozloski Road or the Monmouth County Courthouse at 71 Monument Park. Those offices serve different purposes for records, sheriff administration, court business, and normal-hours bail.

Parent or legal guardian visitors bringing a child must present the child's original birth certificate for the scheduled visit. Each visitor may visit one male and one female per day, and each inmate is allowed one visit per day.

| Adult ID | Valid U.S. government-issued photo identification. |
| Children | Parent or legal guardian must bring original birth certificate. |
| Screening | All visitors pass through a metal detector. |

Bail at MCCI
Monmouth County bail posting depends on the time and location. During normal court business hours, bail is paid at the Monmouth County Courthouse Central Fee Office at 71 Monument Park. The PDF lists property, cash, money order, certified check, or bail bondsman as accepted courthouse methods, with no checks other than certified checks. Some arresting agencies or municipalities may accept bail, so the official instruction is to contact the agency for details.
After normal court hours during the week and 24 hours a day on weekends, bail can be posted only at MCCI, in cash or through a bail bondsman. No property payment or checks are accepted at MCCI after hours. A complaint-warrant case can still require a judge's release or detention decision, and detainers can affect release even when a local bail amount is addressed.
| Posting Situation | Location | Accepted Methods |
|---|---|---|
| Normal court hours | Monmouth County Courthouse Central Fee Office | Property, cash, money order, certified check, bail bondsman |
| After hours and weekends | MCCI booking area | Cash or bail bondsman only |
MCCI Programs and Accountability
MCCI official pages list health care, meals, outdoor recreation, indoor exercise, weekly law-library access, attorney and law-enforcement interview rooms, religious programs, educational programs, and social programs. Substance Abuse Services provides education classes, group counseling, individual counseling, certificates of participation, daily AA meetings, monthly AA/NA speaker events, recovery literature, and post-release treatment placement help when referred by MCCI Social Services.
The Inmate Labor Program is another local feature. Participation is voluntary and limited to people incarcerated for minor offenses with good behavior. The program reported 19,799 hours in 38 municipalities over one reported year and estimated taxpayer savings above $109,764. For accountability complaints, the MCCI Internal Affairs page lists Lieutenant Daniel Hansson at 732-431-7860 extension 1230, Detective John Quick at 732-431-7860, and MCCI.InternalAffairs@mcsonj.org.
Note: Confirm custody, visit rules, mail restrictions, and money options directly with MCCI before travel or payment.
